A Week in Her Style: Mix and Match Like Niki Chow

A week in Niki Chow’s (周麗淇) style shows us what a simple girl she really is on her days off as an actress and model. Her style can be described as American casual, cool, and with an easy Bohemian vibe.

There is a few pieces in her wardrobe that’s always on repeat: sunglasses, a fedora, jeans, and comfortable shoes, whether they come in the form of booties, sneakers, espadrilles, or flat sandals. What you won’t see the actress wear are high heels on a day off, making her just like the rest of us casual girls. Ain’t got time for them if you are truly living life on the go.

Monday: The Poncho

The black monochrome poncho is the easiest way to wear the trend if you are a bit shy and uncertain about the trend. It is truly comfortable and very much like carrying a blanket everywhere you go. Niki paired it with an all black outfit including black skinnies, combat boots, a beanie, and a crossbody. Every girl should have these pieces in their wardrobe, whether they’re black of of another color.

Tuesday: The “Superhero” Graphic Sweatshirt

Although sweatshirts have been an American casual staple piece decades now, only lately did I start hunting them down, but finding the right graphic sweatshirt was not as easy as I thought. I wasn’t ready to settle for something with the store name brand tacked on there, but something a bit more badass. But how cool is it to go through the airport security gates like a superhero? Throw on a cape on top of that and no one will second guess your new identity. Just kidding.

Throw on a fur hooded jacket and you’ll be ready to tackle any kind of weather like a warrior.

Wednesday: The Duster Cardigan

When the duster cardigan trend emerged initially, I was a bit skeptical and thought it was more of a runway, rather than a practical piece. As it became more street-style friendly, I’ve realized it’s a piece that can turn heads. It’s definitely the sassiest of all soft knit cardigans. Any color will do, but I do prefer earthy colors and in Niki’s case, when contrasted with all black, it gives it a more put-together vibe rather than Bohemian look.

Thursday: Bright and Happy Sweatshirts

While I won’t go back to following the brights trend, I can’t ignore that fact that it does pop and brightens up my day when I see it on other people, especially when it says, “Bonjour!” Pun intended. 😉

Black is always a safe contrast against anything and everything and Niki knows it.

Friday: The Lace-Sleeve Top

The delicate lace or crochet sleeve trend makes any outfit more feminine. When paired with distressed jeans, Niki shows that she’s feminine but doesn’t take herself too seriously. A pair of gold sandals and a fedora is the perfect outfit for a weekend errand run or brunch with friends.

Saturday: The Fringe Crossbody

A small/medium-sized fringe crossbody bag always has me like… while I favor the classic brown, suede Bohemian style bag, fringe has been so in the past few seasons that designers and fast fashion retailers have been coming out with fringe bags of all shapes and colors. The most casual of all her outfits, Niki wore an all-black outfit which includes a sweatshirt, sweatpants, an Adidas x Yeezy Boost sneakers.

Sunday: The Bright Tote

A bright handbag is another way to throw happiness into your wardrobe, especially with the handbag is gifted. In an all casual outfit consisting of the most basic white tee, distressed jeans, espadrilles, her favorite fedora, Niki is always ready to showoff her heart on her sleeve.

What do you think of Niki’s style? I love that she reuses so many key pieces, making her wardrobe super affordable that so many girls can easily replicate and still look classy and put-together.
