Red Carpet: Yahoo! Asia Buzz Awards 2015

Most Gorgeous – Nancy Wu (胡定欣)

Nancy’s choice of dress seemed to have gotten inspiration from her best friend Myolie Wu. Confidence is gorgeous for a reason and the actress who has been in the industry for more than 12 years knows that she has a high chance of winning Best Actress at the TVB Anniversary Awards this weekend. For the evening of December 9, 2015 she met the press in a black deep V-neck jumpsuit. Her hair pulled back in a sleek bun and beaming with pride all night, her red lip was absolutely stunning!

Most Modest – Ruco Chan (陳展鵬)

Like Nancy, Ruco’s chances for Best Actor is extremely high with no competition from actors his generation and has been showing up at every awards ceremony for the last two months. Ruco clearly came as himself, dressed very humbly. Even though his white button-down looks better tucked in, he layered it with a white sweater and topped off the outfit with a plaid blazer (the plaid is a no-no for blazer, but thankfully the print is very barely noticeable). Black pants is always his go-to while we all go gaga over his slightly nerdy glasses!

Most Young and Vibrant – Grace Chan (陳凱琳)

Grace has been to all the awards ceremony this year despite being only being in the industry for less than three years. I mean it’s okay to be jealous. Equally as confident in TVB’s Anniversary Awards this year, she came in a halter black sparkling bodycon dress. While her matching metallic tall boots and jacket is almost tasteless and reminds me of a showgirl, Grace always has a way to win people over with her smile.

Most Room For Improvement – Fred Cheng (鄭俊弘) & Jinny Ng (吳若希)

Jinny Ng’s popularity skyrocketed after singing several theme songs with TVB, most notably her overplayed subtheme for Line Walker. Came armed with Fred Cheng whose new found success was also a career in singing, the two shows that happy people are indeed the most attractive. Fred’s suit is almost too basic, while Jinny’s dress could’ve given her more shape. The mesh is also shown in awkward areas of her body, which doesn’t accentuate any body part.

Most Street Style – Pakho Chau (周柏豪)

With two awards in his hands, Pakho came like he intended to crash the party. It was definitely one of those throw on a leather jacket, graphic tee, distressed denim, and sneakers days for the rising star singer. We forgive him for his innocently boyish look (see photo above), however.

Most Casual – Joyce Cheng (鄭欣宜)

In recent years, Joyce has publicly declared that she doesn’t care how others perceive her body. Came as one of the most casual HK stars that evening, she was very conservative in her choice of outfit. Liquid black leggings, a patterned blouse, and poncho-like sweater to keep her warm, she either didn’t have time to get ready or dressed for warmth. The most dressy piece of her outfit was her pointy-toed heels, which is a everyday staple for many HK working women.

Most Festival Style – Ali Lee (李佳芯)

Be on the lookout for her next year in TVB dramas as she’ll be one of the highly promoted girls. With only Nancy and Grace dressed for red carpet style, perhaps it isn’t unnatural to come dressed in everyday clothes. Ali came in an earthy patterned maxi with black platform booties and a black leather jacket. This style is right up my alley for a weekend look, but wished she came in something more glamorous for the event.

The event clearly screams more casual than other ceremonies. Here, we not only see a wide range of styles, but everyone’s attitude towards the event is different. What do you think about casual styles for these semi-formal events?
